Very bad things
In other happy news, hubby got a new job! It's been a miserable 2 years of him working 2nd shift way on the other side of the city. He's been looking for a job since he started there, it was never supposed to be permanent. Now he does testing for organ transplants to be sure they are compatible. How cool is that? The last week has been miserable still since he's working at night and training during the day, but it won't be much longer until I have my hubby back at night again. Also, Connor realized he really loves to sleep on his stomach. I know he's not supposed to sleep on his stomach but he rolls over the very second you walk away from him and what are you going to do? Literally overnight he went from sleeping 45 mins to 1.5 hours to sleeping all night long and taking really long, wonderful naps during the day. The first time I woke him up at 4am in a panic, both because he'd never ever slept that long and because he'd never gone that long without nursing and I was ready to nurse anyone I could find. Life is good!

Mother's Day
Then today I got my first flowers from the kids. Nora brought me three dandelions with the fluff blown off and said "what's this mommy? From me!" I had to laugh, how adorable is that? She's been so good with the potty, only a couple of accidents. One while I was helping the UPS man bring in the 15 rolls of fabric he delivered this morning and wasn't there to get her to the potty in time.
I also decided today to dig out my 35MM pentex camera. I didn't buy it, it was found in the laundry room of our house a few months after we moved in. We have no idea how to find the old owner and I really doubt he ever used it. It's a surprisingly good camera for how old it is. I loved it for a while until we got a digital. Our neighbor works for Pentex so he got us a really good deal on a very expensive little pocket sized digital, which I thought would blow the old manual out of the water. Apparently I don't know anything about cameras. It's taken me lots of reading and time to realize that it's not necessarily me that suddenly can't take pictures, it might just be the camera! Nothing ever looks in the picture like I see it in my head, like it used to with the manual. Someday I plan on buying a good Nikon D60, but for now I will go back to the manual and return to the basics. I found it a couple of days ago while looking in Nora's closet for another picture and suddenly remembered how much I loved using it. I'm excited to buy film again, maybe I'll post a picture of that awesome handbag I got today!

Happy days!
But the flowers were a total shock, and came from my stepfather of all people. It was so much more meaningful because it was so random. Lee isn't a touchy feely kind of guy so to get flowers from just him was really amazing. It felt so nice! I'm going home to visit in a few weeks and it made me even more homesick.
I also had a great business meeting today. I was at school last week in line for my post test burrito and overheard someone else talking. It was so weird, I just heard one word and my ears perked up. Turns out it was someone I have been looking for a long time, and the meeting today was a big "aha!" thing. I'm feeling like things are taking their own natural course, which is really odd. Okay, I know that whole paragraph is cryptic, but I don't want to say too much right now. Plus, this isn't really a work blog so I'm trying not to fill it with work.
I also had a picnic with Nathan at his school today. It was nice to spend some time with just him. With two other younger kids at home almost no one gets one on one time without an act of congress. It's so nice that he is still not too big to sit on Mom's lap and snuggle in the middle of his school. His friends ran by and he didn't want to go play, just snuggle with his Mommy. Soon he'll barely want to talk to me, and I really cherished today. He even let me take a rare 15 minute nap later in the day (after bribing him with Super Hero videos of course.) Shipping rates go up on Monday so I will be up very late tonight. I guess I should stop messing around!

Yay, it works!
So my unhealthy obsession lately is this fabric. I don't really know why, although it is way cooler in person than this photo. I recently bought it and one of it's coordinating prints to make a dress for DD. I also purchased a bag and a mei tei baby carrier. DH is going to think I've gone overboard when he sees it all together. In my defense I haven't bought a bag since our honeymoon in 2002. In his defense we have a rediculous amount of slings and carriers.
I'll post pics when they arrive, and when I finish the dress. At the moment however I am still working on a bloomers pattern and a couple other patterns so it will probably be a while before I sew the dress.
Crazy kidness- We recently put a new top on our island so we can sit there and eat. DH's Dad put the top on while he was here a couple of weeks ago. At the time, Nora (DD, 21 months) could walk under it just perfectly. There was only the tiniest amount of clearance. Suddenly she has started hitting her head! Literally last week she was short enough, now she is a good 1/2" to tall. The girl is off the charts tall, definately takes after my side of the family!
Tales From The Crazy House
What you will mostly find here-
More kid stories than most people can tolerate
Sewing show offs (mostly of overly girly clothes for DD)
Rants about school
Rants about DH's job
Cloth diaper chatter
Occasional business (this is not a business blog!)
Excessive use of parenthesis and exclamation points (hey, it's my blog!)
